Audemars Piguet Breaks Ground On New Museum Extension By Bjarke Ingels, To Open Spring 2019,Replica Watches Audemars Piguet UK

Audemars Piguet has just announced that it’s broken ground on the new extension to its existing museum, which will house themed exhibitions, as well as space for watchmaking workshops and other presentation facilities. The extension, dubbed the Maison des Fondateurs (“Home of the Founders”), was designed by Danish architectural firm BIG (Bjarke Ingels Group. It is a pretty radical departure from the existing museum building, which dates to 1868, but at the same time it’s been designed to integrate directly into the Le Brassus landscape.

The new extension is designed to blend in harmoniously with the surrounding landscape.

As anyone who’s been lucky enough to visit Audemars Piguet at home in Le Brassus knows, the Museum is an incredible treasure trove of AP timepieces, as well as watches made by members of the founding families which pre-date the actual establishment of the firm. It’s also hard to visit the museum without feeling that a little more light and space might present the wonderful collections in a better light (to make a feeble pun). Well, AP is finally doing something about it. “Exhibition rooms will alternate with watch-making workshops, relaxation spaces, sound and cinema laboratories and contemporary art, making the ‘Maison des Fondateurs’ first and foremost a place for meeting, experiencing and sharing,” says Audemars Piguet in the press release distributed today. “There will also be reception and meeting spaces and an area devoted to the professional preservation of the archives and the Audemars Piguet Foundation.”

The interior will house a variety of exhibition, meeting, and presentation spaces.

Atelier Brückner, and interior architecture firm specializing in museums and trade shows (based in Stuttgart, Germany), will manage the exhibition space and interior, as well as “all the scenography, staging, and showcasing of the timepieces,” including lighting. Geneva architectural firm CCHE is the local architect and general planner, while Bjarke Ingels’s firm BIG won the design competition for the overall concept and design of the Maison des Fondateurs. Having such a big brand-name architect involve will no doubt draw some eyeballs to the project that otherwise might not even now Le Brassus exists. Cheap Replica Audemars Piguet Watches Online UK.

At a first look, the design impresses us as a sensitive addition not only to AP’s museum facilities, but also to the local landscape. Construction has just begun, and while the overall schedule depends on the often unpredictable vagaries of weather in the Vallée, AP hopes to hold welcoming ceremonies in the spring of 2019, if all goes well. You can bet we’ll be there when the new museum opens (whenever that happens to be).
